Leeds Area Guide
Leeds is located in some of the UK's finest countryside within the Yorkshire Dales and is a thriving city offering a vast range of attractions, thriving club scene, world class sports and leisure venues and unbeatable shopping.
Cultural attractions include the Royal Armouries, a £42 million home on the waterfront and the first national museum to house part of the Royal Collection from the Tower of London. The Thackray Medical Museum is well worth a visit with displays explaining how medical advances have affected our lives today and visit to the Spectacular Harewood House, home of the Queen's cousin, is a great day out for the family with its beautiful gardens and bird gardens, boat trips on the lake, adventure playground and a range of events and exhibitions.
Shopping is a must when visiting the city, with its impressive Victorian shopping arcades as well as all the major high street names and of course the largest department store in Yorkshire, Harvey Nichols. Leeds is also particularly good for shopping as it is predominantly a pedestrian-only area.
If you fancy getting away from the city, there is some beautiful countryside to be explored amongst the Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country or Ilkley Moor.
Throughout the city you will find European-style cafes sitting comfortably next to traditional English pubs and the range of restaurants range from Indian, Chinese, Thai, Spanish, French, American, Italian and Mexican. If you prefer to sample traditional English food there are many quaint country pubs on the way to the Yorkshire Dales.
