Gatwick Area Guide

Gatwick airport is situated 24 miles south of London. It is the busiest single runway airport in the world, and the UK's second largest airport. It has two terminals - North and South, which take over 30 million passengers per year to over 280 world wide destinations. However it wasn't always like this, in fact, Gatwick was originally meant to be used as a Royal Air Force base during the Second World War, although at this point it was still not much more than a grass field.

Today the airport is a busy and well equipped airport, with all that any traveller could need when travelling to, from or through the airport. The public transport links from Gatwick are reliable and efficient. Choose from either the train, coach, tube, Gatwick Express, taxi or rental cars. Central London is easily accessible from Gatwick airport. The Gatwick Express runs from the south terminal directly through to Victoria Station in central London and only takes 30 minutes. The service runs every 15 minutes from 05:20 until 00:50 and then hourly throughout the night. From here all the fantastic sites and experiences of the Capital are just a short walk, tube or bus ride away.
